2: Setting an altar

One among the things that spiritual people do, is setting up a place for prayer. There are some who enjoy being in natural environments like rivers, mountains, valleys, natural plains, trees and landscapes. Also there are those who enjoy staying locked in a room. Others like praying in their cars with music on. Others like walking along the way, praying. So it doesn’t matter how you pray as long as it makes you comfortable, it is well.

It is good to find a place where you can feel comfortable when praying. And make it your permanent place for prayer. And once you have discovered it; anoint it.

The place where you have set as an altar, is not only a place for prayer but also a place where you can hear the voice of God. Not every urge/desire that you get to prayer, is a call for you to pray; sometimes God can use such an urge to set you apart from your normal surrounding/from the midst of people, so that you may go to a secret place, the place where you have sanctified for conversation with the Father. And when you get there don’t hurry to speak words; please stay still and listen. God called you to a place, meaning He’s waiting for you there to speak to you; go there and listen to Him. He is the one who is calling you and not you calling Him.

The place has to be your own secret with God. It is not pleasant when you want to talk to God and some environments are hindering you. So you will need a place where no one can easily distract you. Jesus Himself had a place for prayer, that is at the mount of olives Gethsemane. And He would go there almost every night.

The benefits of setting an altar is that it stands as a gateway to Heaven, ( it is recognized by Heaven) so even when you are not around, the place will still experience heavenly visitation. I’ve personally done this many times, and had people giving testimonies of what they experience once they are around that place, others were seeing Angels, others were breaking into speaking in tongues, others feel an extra ordinary peace, etc.

Abraham the partriach, had tendency of setting an altar; whenever He would visit a place and hear God talking to Him, he set an altar there and called upon the name of the Lord. And He is counted a friend of God. He walked mightily with God though he didn’t have a Bible, he wasn’t going to church on Sundays, yet he was deep in knowing God.
And the scriptures say:

Genesis 12:7-8
[7] And the LORD appeared unto Abram, and said, Unto thy seed will I give this land: and there builded he an altar unto the LORD, who appeared unto him.
[8] And he removed from thence unto a mountain on the east of Bethel, and pitched his tent, having Bethel on the west, and Hai on the east: and there he builded an altar unto the LORD, and called upon the name of the LORD.

According to the way they were honoring the Most High God; when it comes to setting an altar for the Lord. They were choosing smooth stones that no one has broken with a hammer or hit with a hard thing. So when it comes to stones that were for the glory of God, they had to choose smooth ones. ( remember David against Goliath).

Again something happened with Abraham’s grandson; Jacob. There was a day when He was escaping from his brother Esau. And the bible says that he arrived at a certain place; bethel at night. (Remember Genesis 12:8).
And he found a smooth stone and put it under his head for a pillow ( I wonder what made him use stone and not some leaves🤔🤔). And he felt asleep and saw a ladder and the angels ascending and descending down the ladder. And I suspect that the stone he used to lay his head was one of the stones that His grandfather; Abraham used to build an altar for the Lord.

What am saying is this, once you have set a place for prayer, the place is already recognized by Heaven. So even when you are not there, the place would still be visited ( so don’t hurry leaving such a place😊😊)

Do you know that some of us are the way they are now because of the prayers and the life that their grandfather or grandmother did many years ago? They are the product of the dedication that their ancestors did unto the Lord. Your grandma made her home a place for prayer, and now the grandchildren are benefiting from that. “if God can reveal to a prophet what your grandpa who was a witch did and now you are suffering; he can also reveal what your grandparents who were God fearers did to your home, and now you are enjoying”

It’s good to set up a a place where you would not only speak to God; but also hear God. God would visit such a place 24/7, it just depends on the way you are being faithful concerning your appointments with Him.
