THE ART OF SERVING THE LORD
Episode 04
THE CORE AND VALUE OF MINISTRY
Here we are not going to talk about ministerial ethics but rather the driving force of the gospel ministry. What keeps your ministry alive.
When talking about ministry, we are not talking about places where people gather to hear from God. We are not talking about having an organization with titles. But when I say “your ministry”; what it realy means is, “Your work in the kingdom of God”, that is what the term ministry means. Whether it is a team or an individual; it means “service” in the kingdom of God. So don’t quickly attack it when you hear the term ministry. Remember that even where you attend sunday service is a ministry🙂.
Your ministration must attain a value. Paul talks about different works with different values, and every work will be tested by fire to see it’s value.
He says;
2 Timothy 2:20-21
[20] But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.
[21] If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work.
And again he says;
1 Corinthians 3:12-13
[12] Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;
[13] Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is.
Here Paul is teaching us something very important,
1: He describes the foundation for every ministry, he tells that every work of the Gospel is founded on Christ Jesus. No matter how you do it, but the owner of the Job is Jesus Christ.
2: Upon this foundation, there are works (ministries), but every one of them differ in terms of value ( quality). There are those of high quality and there are those of an average quality and there those of low quality. Every work’s quality will be tested with fire at the end of every work..
In 2Timothy 2:20-21, apostle Paul, is telling us something great about maintaining the value of our ministry, or how to add value to the ministry. He says that for us to have value in the work of the Lord, or for our work to be of higher value; we must be pure, we ourselves must be Holy, in order to make a good work.
The value of the work is not in the work, but on the person doing the work
How do you manage yourself in the field of God’s work. We are not looking at how much you have done to know the value, but we look at how have you been able to maintain purity in the field of the Gospel.
Jesus is the foundation, but the Minister’s life matters a lot.
You want God to use you mightily?, Then be HOLY
Doing a work that none will question, when looking at what you are doing. Not just for the sake of a dunamis anointing; no. Some are focusing on the anointing, and neglecting their own lives thinking that they are doing a lot of work. ( It might be a lot but valueless).
Before your mouth can preach; let your life preach for you.
Is your life reflecting what you want to share with others.
A good Christian, a good messenger of the Lord, has a dressing code; and that is HOLINESS.
Reach out and preach what you are. You are a moving message, ready to read by unbelievers, so that in you they may find a reason to come to Jesus Christ.
The value of your work in the kingdom of God, depends on how you are with God.
How much can God trust you for a work?
Walk out and preach the gospel of the Lord. You don’t have any reason to remain indoors, stand out for the sake of the Gospel. Let our God be known. And let’s put value in it.
