THE GOSPEL BOOKS (B)
The word “GOSPEL” is simply a Greek derived word that means “the good news” or “good tidings”
So the word Gospel means good spell or good news or good tidings
According to our subtopic that is the Gospel books we are going direct to look at these books.
In the Bible, especially in the New testament, we have the four books known as the gospel books that are The Gospel according to Mathew, Mark, Luke, And John
Though in reality the good news didn’t begin with the books in the New testament, there were Prophets then who prophesied concerning the coming of the Messiah, and some even revealed clearly where Jesus Christ was to be born and some like Daniel were given the exact year when Jesus was to be born
The message of the Gospel didn’t begin with the New testament.
THE GOSPEL BOOKS
As I said that the word Gospel means “good news”
And the gospel of Jesus comprise the following
1: Infancy of Jesus (simulizi ya uchanga wa YESU) and in the infancy narrative of Jesus we have the birth of Jesus, and some short narrative of an infant Jesus
2: baptism of Jesus
3: temptation of Jesus
4: The begining of the ministry of Jesus
5: the beatitudes (sermon on the mountain) ~zile heri (Mathew 5:3 kuendelea)
6: teachings of Jesus and parables
7: miracles of Jesus
8: transfiguration
9: the Lord’s supper
10: crucifixion of Jesus
11: Resurrection of Jesus
12: The ascending of Jesus
Looking at these I’ve broken them down into twelve, though in many terms they are grouped into four
1: infancy narrative
2: ministry of Jesus
3: Crucifixion of Jesus
4: Resurrection
I’ve broken it into twelve to fit the number of tribes of Israel😂😂 (I’m kidding though it is a revelation).
Anyway😂😂, I’ve broken it down that way because after the Gospel books we are going to be dealing with THE GOSPEL itself and the life of Jesus. And we are going to dig all the way from the old testament to the new testament. And we will be talking about those twelve parts. Get ready
Though we have these four Gospel books, it doesn’t mean that only Mathew, Mark, John and Luke are the ones that wrote about Jesus.
There were many other books some were written even before the book of Mathew, mark, Luke and John were written,
There are many other books that talked about Jesus that are never in the Bible
Luke himself confirms this right at the beginning of his writing👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼
Luke 1:1
[1] Forasmuch as many have taken in hand to set forth in order a declaration of those things which are most surely believed among us,
Can you read that again?🤔🤔
😂😂 some of you didn’t even know that there was such a verse in the book of Luke. Where Luke is saying that he is not the only one and the first person who has set his hand to write, but he says MANY have set forth their hands to write..
And he even continue to say that appart from not being the only one who has set his hand to write about Jesus Christ, he also not the only eyewitness, that he didn’t witness everything about Jesus, but has went on asking those who witnessed the events to verify before writing his book of Luke
😂😂 you people, whenever you are reading your Bibles please consider the introduction of those books, don’t just go direct to the birth story of Jesus (during Christmas😂😂) and then get on with the baptism and temptation and so on😂😂. And then we say thank you Jesus for your word
If Luke himself is saying that he had to ask people who witnessed with their eyes things concerning Jesus Christ, for him to write. Those are just eye witnesses then again come to his first statement, “MANY have written in order about the things that happened…
So it was necessary to have more than four books, that we have in the Bible that tells the story about Jesus Christ. This means that there are many books that have been left out,
That is just about the books; then what about the witnesses that never wrote anything about Jesus, those that just ended up witnessing?
And then what about the things, that happened but were never recorded? What about those that were never narrated by those that witnessed?
Hear this if you think that you know everything about Jesus Christ just by what you have read, and you think that is everything about Him, you are joking
And John even says👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼
John 21:25
[25] And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen.
Can you really imagine you have this kind of scripture in your Bible? And yet we are so reluctant like that thinking you have all.
You know there is a level where you become immersed in the word until you become the word yourself
There is a level where you understand the Bible until you become the Bible yourself
Having that verse means that there is still more to learn from Jesus Christ,
Just reading everything written doesn’t mean that that is everything
